West Ealing, London, UK
Hello Lamp Post has been launched as an on-street engagement programme in West Ealing as part of their Liveable Neighbourhood programme, alongside streetscape prototypes to engage citizens at a hyperlocal level. The programme is designed around improving green spaces, cycling infrastructure and encouraging modal shift through improving pedestrian routes and accessibility in West Ealing.
The deployment of the technology on the streets of West Ealing is to assist in gathering public perception on infrastructure changes, and providing an extra layer of consultation around the TFL supported 'healthy streets' approach. The interventions have been designed to take place in specific streets and points of interest, and to gauge public perceptions on the changes to the area.
Citizens and residents were asked to speak with their urban environment, and were delighted to discover that it would respond to the conversation. This creative project has shown that the citizens of West Ealing are open and willing to explore innovative ways of communicating their opinions on the environment in which they work, live and travel.
“HLP has modernised and scaled our ability to engage a wider community more often. We plan on further deploying HLP on many other consultations and engagement projects, including the next phase of our West Ealing Liveable Neighbourhoods work”
